Birichino "St. George's Vineyard" Old Vines Zinfandel, Central Coast

Produced from ungrafted old vine Zinfandel planted by a bootlegger in 1922 on the eastern edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Fermented with indigenous yeast and then 75% of the wine was matured in stainless steel which preserved the higher toned little red fruits and freshness and which was then blended with the 25% held in oak and that brought deeper, darker black fruit and spice to the final wine
